Building Opportunity Since 2011

OUR MOST RECENT IMPACT

The Lion: Courage in Motion is a youth-informed public art project funded by Born and Raised Detroit (BARD) and brought to life through a collaboration between high school innovators at YouthTank Detroit and local artist Elton Monroy Durán at Corpus Art Studio.

Inspired by student concepts of courage, mobility, transformation, and Detroit’s future, the sculpture is built from historic Detroit materials—including a Model T transmission, vinyl records, and automotive accents. The project directly reflects BARD’s mission: investing real resources into Detroit’s youth, supporting local artists, and helping young leaders leave a lasting mark on their city.
